Snapchat is developing a visual search

Snapchat appears to be preparing for a partnership with e-commerce giant Amazon.

According to Techcrunch, Snapchat is developing a new version of snapchat that will be available on android. This new version will have a feature called “Visual search” that will allow you to use snapchat’s camera to send images and barcodes to Amazon, that can then display their search results.

The information about the new feature was found by the researcher Ishan Agarwal. He said that a code stated “Press and hold to identify an object, song, barcode and more”.

Ishan also found in the new feature referred to internally as “Eagle” that there were photo’s of the Amazon Logo and XML. The tool will be very similar to Google Lens, a visual feature developed by Google in 2017. Snapchat already developed a similar feature with shazam to identify music from the snapchat interface.

However, there is no official announcements yet from snapchat about the development of this new feature.
